Northern areas in the USA that have very cold and harsh winters which limited people to play sports or be entertained. People needed a sport to occupy there time to play indoors away from the cold which later on resulted into a turning point in entertainment.

Dr. James Naismtih was a Canadian physical education teacher who taught at Spring Field College in Massachusetts which was one of the branches from YMCA.

In the eighteen hundreds, when entertainment was low Dr. James Naismith invented a sport that could be played indoors dew to harsh weather, didn't completely rely on strength, and could serve as a sport for people who couldn't play outside in the winter. With the help of Luther Halsey Gulick, Naismith made basketball in Springfield College, Massachusetts and changed entertainment and sports for everyone.

The Birth
Naismith's first rules were based on a game that didn't entirely rely on strength. It consisted of 18 players, nine on each team. Each team tried getting a soccer ball into the opponent's basket. All in all, Naismith created a set of thirteen rules.
